I was first introduced to Sakura by Tommy and his family. We used to go there when I was still living in Yorkshire and would visit London. There was always a queue and back then it was based at Hanover Square. They have since moved to Conduit Street into a more spacious and brighter space. Myself, Tommy and a couple of friends decided to re-visit this weekend. I think the last time I visited was over 2 years ago! I ordered the TAKE set dinner for £19.00. The dinner included a plate of prawn and vegetable tempura, 2 chicken yakitori, some salmon and tuna sashimi, a bowl of rice, miso soup, pickles and fruit, oh and some tiny salmon salad starter which isn't pictured. It may sound a lot but once on a tray, it looked pretty capable. The tempura was light and crispy, sashimi was fresh, yakitoti was well flavoured and even the clementine was nice and juicy. Overall the food is really good quality and definitely worth trying.
On the other hand, service wasn't the best. No dilemma's but our waiter did seem pretty clueless, bringing out tray's of food and not knowing what they were. To be fair, he did seem pretty new though.
Based on the food alone, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone. The set menu's are a great idea, allowing you to try different things, especially if it's your first visit.
Have you been to Sakura before? What was your experience?
