Review: Bourjois Magic 1 Second Nail Polish Remover

Bourjois Magic Nail Polish Remover RRP £4.99

I bought this after reading a tonne of rave reviews. I was always dubious about this kind of nail polish remover, having tried many, I came to a conclusion that they never work! Until I dipped my finger into this one. The sponge inside was soaked in solution, not expecting much I twirled my finger around for around 3 seconds, removed my finger and the result? It left me gobsmacked. After knowing the procedure, I dipped another finger in and left it in for 1 second to see whether it was true to what is advertised, unfortunately I would say 1 second is a slight exagerration, 3 seconds would be more appropriate but come on, 3 seconds? Thats fast enough right?! I normally spend at least 10 seconds whilst using a cotton pad. For £4.99 I would highly recommend it to anyone, it saves you wasting your cotton pads and more importantly, it saves you time.

If your still in doubt, watch my demonstration below. Words don't do this pot of magic any justice. REMEMBER, I bought this with my own money, it was not sent to me.

  2. That's incredible! Not sure you can get it here in Australia. I'm curious as to how many times you can use it, though?

  3. This is the 100th review i've read of this product, and I dont understand why it has rave reviews. First of all, it does not remove nail polish in one second! I use it at work every few days and it takes the same amount of time to remove polish as the regular way (using cotton), it's just that it's more convenient to use this as its more portable.
Secondly, it's pretty expensive for what it is. These kind of 'dip and twist' products have been around for years and you can buy even better ones in Boots, Superdrug, and even the pound shop that do the same thing but for a fraction of the price.
Also, everyone keeps saying it smells nice, but it just smells like normal nail polish remover to me. x

    P.S
    I'm not complaining, i'm explaining! :-)

  4. WOW!!! All I can say! As a nail tech I never saw anything like that and normally spend WAY more time trying to take off polish from my clients' nails.. this is a real miracle, never seen anything so effective..
I am particularly impressed by cleaniness - no nail polish stuck in the grooves or around cuticle..

Only one question: how many coats of polish did you have on when doing the review? How old was it?
I am only skeptical because normally you wear base + two coats of color + top coat, which is not easy to remove, especially if they're good quality nail products...

  6. Thanks for the comments =)

@Chelle - Only time will tell, I am unsure how long.

@Tiffany - I have tried many brands of pot nail polish removers and nothing comes close, it didn't stain my cuticles either unlike other nail varnish removers. It does smell rather nice when you compare it to other nail polish removers too, not overly nice but better than others =p I guess each to their own opinion =) xxx

@Jenia - I was wearing an essie polish, one day old. I agree, normally red polishes leave a trace of colour either on my cuticles or on the sides of my nails but not with this one! =D x

Removes nail polish so easily although a pain to remove glitter polishes :( Unfortunately i got it on holidays and there's no Sephora where I live :( Hopefully I'll see the Bourjois brand when i next go to the drugstores!

  22. This nail remover is very inexpensive and works better than any high end removers I have tried. It totally strips off the colour in one swipe and leaves a nourishing and satin feel to your nails. When I use this I tend to get one cotton wool pad and dampen that with the product and that is it www.gadecosmetics.se
