Peepers Keepers...

If we were to predominately take care of any one feature on our face, It should be our eyes. Our eyes are very valuable, it allows us to explore and see the world in it's beautiful glory.

However many people disregard the importance of a set of eyes. We often strain our eyes without knowing it. Hours on the computers, hours of watching tv, using our mobile phones for too long, make up, dirt, dirty contact lenses, central heating.... the list can go. These are all factors that can damage our peepers.

It wasn't until about 4 years ago, I started to really look after my eyes. I started wearing cosmetic lenses and my vision went from ULTRA clear to -1.00. I know this is not a huge prescription to many people, but my vision is now often blurred, occasional squinting is needed and going out without lenses result in headaches due to the blurry vision.

I remember the last time I went to Hong Kong, small dust particles got into my eyes whilst shopping (a daily trauma for having big eyes! >_<) I was wearing contact lenses, my eyes felt a sharp pain and if no-one was around, I could of cried. My bf's auntie suggested I buy a eye bath, I was like what the hell is that?! anyway i got one, took it home and 'washed' my eye. I was stunned at the dirt that surfaced in the liquid! Not only small particles, dust, glitter from make up but also a thin layer of oil....

Since that incident I have constantly bought an eye bath. My eyes are often sore, tired and dry and I like to use this once a week, maybe every other week for a good clean of the eye. Not only does it make the eye feel refreshed and clean, it feels revived!

I have been using this eye bath for years now, I use it after heavy eye make up too, it removes all glitter, gunk etc...

All you have to do is fill the eye bath with solution, place it over the eye tightly, keep your eyes open and move your head back and forth, allowing the solution to flow freely in and out of the eye.

I can not stress how important it is to take care of your eyes, It is important to get regular eye checks, I know people who have NEVER had an eye test!

Also, keep in mind the small things like, make up, contact lenses that are dry. I reccommend carrying contact lense eye drops in the bag at all times. and NEVER wear them longer then the suggested time.

Do you use an eye wash?

  3. I've thought about it, but I'm generally weird about putting chemicals in my eyes. I think I'll have to research it a little more!

Scary to think of all the goop hiding behind our eyes though. Some of the eye bath adverts are pretty disgusting!

  4. Weird you should post this, I have just been looking at eye care stuff lately. I'm going to buy the Optrex Red Eyes eyedrops because I keep getting red eyes in work but the idea of getting an eye bath is great too, especially since I have terrible vision at the moment at about -4.00 each eye.

  9. ak! i should try this! i've been color contacts for almost 8 years now. =/ (non-prescripted)since i had perfect vision but wearing lenses for so long def has affected my vision, esp. my left eye!! does it hurt/sting when the solution touches the eye? cause i cant stand keeping my eyes open in water, ie. the pool

  11. wow thank you so much for this! just recently started wearing coloured lenses & that's made my eyes extremely dry. Would also be interesting to see how much eye makeup I DON'T manage to remove at the end of the day. Is it very uncomfortable to use though hun? feel a bit funny about keeping the eye fully open in water...lol!

  12. Now I'm curious to try teehee.

Have you tried the eye bath from Rohto. It's the same line as the Lycee eyedrops (the pink packaging!). I can only imagine how refreshing it'd feel to bathe my eyes in that (though I'm not sure if menthol has any long term effects on the eyes).
